The 2024 NBA Draft will occur next month, and Bronny James knows where he wants to play. At the Draft Combine, James revealed his ideal landing spot in the NBA.
“Wherever I’m happy,” James told reporters on Tuesday. “I feel like that’s the best opportunity and situation that I want to be myself in. …Wherever my heart wants me to be I feel like that’s where I should be.”
It was reported this week that James was expected to remain in the NBA Draft despite entering the transfer portal after playing for USC last season. However, James told reporters that he has not made a decision yet.
“It’s all a grateful experience,” James said. “Extremely grateful to be here and to get an opportunity to be here to showcase my best work that I’ve been putting in after the season. And yeah, just to take it all in. I’m grateful for everything.”
If James does remain in the draft, which team is likely to take him? The Los Angeles Lakers are the odds-on favorite because of his father LeBron James. The elder James is set to become a free agent once the season ends but is expected to re-sign with the Lakers.
“I would be happy about getting to the league instead of me thinking about playing with my dad, but that’s not my mindset right now at all,” the younger James said. “I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me from there.”
Bronny James was considered a first-round prospect before suffering from a congenital heart defect. He played in 25 games for USC last year and averaged 4.8, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. When James was being recruited, he was ranked a four-star recruit and the No. 25 player in the country. in the 2023 class, per the On3 Industry rankings.
